If you’re old like me you realize we probably capped out in the year 2015, where productivity, affordability and work ethic was still a thing. After 10 years of failed government and corporate policies, everything, and I do mean everything is worse. Products, Entertainment, Software, people and on and on and on. Why? simple, because these policies ended individual accountability for the evil that is Groupthink and Consensus. Basically they have dumbed down any incentive and reason to do better for oneself to ensure everyone is equal. There was a great example of how this destroyed progress in a story that was told in many a classroom.
There was a group of students who were told that grades were to be based on the overall class average and no longer on individual effort to promote fairness and compensate for lessor advantaged individuals. The first assignment was handed out and “Jimmy” who was a star pupil, put in his usual diligent effort to make sure his grade would influence the overall result. He believed that others were also working towards the same goal of raising the average. When he received his 65% or C grade, he questioned the professor. The professor said that if we did not pool or average the class results he would have achieved an 85% or an A grade. Once Jimmy realized that his efforts were not being rewarded and instead used to support students who simply did not care, he quickly modified his behavior. To make a long story short, the class of 30 students all failed the course in Economics. The irony was that this experiment taught them the harsh lesson of individual accountability vs supportive policies. Basically free market theory vs market regulation.
When there is no incentive, there is no productivity. When there is no competition there is no accountability.
The reason I write this is to provide a lesson on how to seek your own path forward, and to recognize what and who we are dealing with in this backwards world. Choose your friends and business partners wisely. Make sure your outlook and philosophy matches theirs. If not, move on and find people that share the same individualism and accountability that you have.
Never settle.
